About Me

Thanks for checking out my blog!  I created this blog for a number of reasons.  First and foremost, my kids.  We have 2 daughters and 1 son.  My daughters are at the age where they are cooking a lot more, on their own and constantly asking me how I cooked this or that and "Mom, did you write it down?".

Most often, I did not.

Hence this blog.  My mom passed away at the young age of 48.  I just graduated from college when my mom passed away and never really got the opportunity to cook with her and learn.  I pretty much got my cooking skills from Food Network (not kidding).  That and my obsession with nutrition, gardening and cooking. I have read that what ever you do in your spare time, tends to make you the happiest - it's your passion.  Anything to do with cooking, 24/7, is what I love.

I have been following Haylie Pomroy's teachings for the past couple of years.  I pretty much knew a lot of the methodologies already - well not the scientific aspect of it.  Which now that I think of it, is the whole premise of her book.  So yeah, I did learn a ton from it.

I mean it's common sense to eat nothing processed, go organic whenever possible, and stay away from sugar.  Right?  But why on earth do people continue to eat processed foods that are so bad for you?  Our bodies can't digest these foods because they aren't real.  The more research I do, the more upset I get at the FDA for even approving this crap.  If it doesn't come from the earth and there are more than a couple of ingredients (of which you can recognize and pronounce) then don't eat it.

My oldest daughter has Celiac disease.  It was all new to me, and her.  Ironically, the wholesome way that I eat now, I would say almost everything is gluten free.  No wonder she feels so much better and I do too.

So in my blog you will see some labels for FMD (Fast Metabolism Diet, Haylie's teachings), P1, P2 and P3 - different phases within the diet.  You can ignore these labels if you aren't following this diet.  I have also included Gluten Free, for my daughter's sake and others too.

Tips and Tricks.  I LOVE these!  DIY's, gardening ideas and cooking tips that make you go... "hmmmm, cool!  What a great idea!"  There are so many ways to save money too and keeping it real.  I love to read about these and would welcome many, many more!

I will constantly add to to my blog.  As I jokingly say to my kids, in case I get hit by bus one day, you have everything online.  The truth of the matter is, I would have loved to cook along side my mom and miss her more than anything.  The good news is, I am expecting to be around for a long time.  I am looking forward to many more memories of cooking, laughing and sharing time with my family and friends.

Now, if I only knew more about running a vineyard...

Cheers!
